FIRST GRADE CURRICULUM

First Grade is a very important year of learning for all students. Students in First Grade have attended Kindergarten and have learned a variety of skills. This year skills in all academic areas are expanded and previously learned concepts continue to be developed. In First Grade much emphasis is made on developing a love of learning and reading. Rivercliff Lutheran School First Graders will learn fro a variety of methods in all areas of the curriculum. As the goals and objectives of the curriculum are taught, faith issues will be integrated into the daily lessons.

• Mathematics - Harcourt & Brace
• Music - Northwestern Publishing
• Social Studies - Harcourt & Brace
• Science - Discovery Works from Concordia Publishing House & Silver Burdett & Ginn
• Spanish - Teach developed program

These are the basic instructional materials used in our classroom. Additional supplementary materials are used by our teacher and students. The teacher will also enhance instruction through the use of teacher-developed materials.
